About Salted.

Discover the benefits of oxygenated and deionised Dead Sea salt for animals suffering from respiratory and allergic conditions.

What is Salted?

Salted logo

Salted is dedicated to helping horses, dogs, and cats manage respiratory and allergic conditions through drug-free, natural therapy.

Traditionally used for horses, this therapy is now available for smaller animals like dogs and cats, offering an affordable alternative to expensive drug regimens.

What sets Salted apart is its mobile service, the only one of its kind in the area. Horses are typically treated in groups at the owner’s yard, while smaller animals are cared for at Salted’s facility in Roydon.

The treatment takes place in a mobile heated chamber and is available year-round. It is nebulised and vaporised using Dead Sea salt and deionised oxygen, allowing animals to absorb it through their lungs and skin. Unlike conventional nebulisers, Salted’s unit does not require masks, keeping the process calm and stress-free for the animals. Owners can even sit in during the treatment if desired, although it's not recommended for those with COPD or cancer.

Sharon Taverner, the founder of Salted, has spent the last 18 years running a very successful veterinary practice. After years of treating common ailments in animals, she decided to sell her practice to a national company to focus full-time on Salted. Before her veterinary career, Sharon worked in the NHS and dedicated 40 years as a trainer in the Mounted Games. She is also an active member of the Pony Club.

Sharon’s husband, Nigel, is a skilled farrier, a trade passed down to their son and grandson. Nigel manages much of Salted's technical work and behind-the-scenes operations and takes on the driving and heavy lifting.

Their granddaughter, Brooke, is studying Veterinary Physiotherapy at university and will soon join the Salted team. Brooke has competed for Great Britain in the Mounted Games and British Reining and is a proud Pony Club member.
